Hapuna Beach

One of the best places to snorkel on the Big Island is Hapuna Beach. Hapuna Beach is considered one of the world’s most beautiful beaches and is great for seeing a variety of ocean life. At each end of the beach, are rocky points which are great for getting a better view of what this place has to offer. It is about a third of a mile between the two rocky points. If you want to explore both, there is a bit of a swim, or you can walk along the beautiful golden sand shore. You can expect to see a variety of fish, turtles, and other marine life when you snorkel here.

Punalu’u Beach

If you’re looking for a more adventurous experience, try snorkeling at Punalu’u Beach. This beach is known for its black sand, which is created by volcanic activity. The water here is usually a bit cooler and rougher than in other snorkeling spots, but it’s still worth a visit. You can expect to see both the endangered Hawksbill and green turtles along with a wide variety of fish when you snorkel at Punalu’u Beach.

Kealakekua Bay

Our absolute favorite place to snorkel is in Kealakekua Bay. This is a popular spot for snorkeling and diving and is home to Captain Cook Monument. As a marine sanctuary, it is filled with tropical fish and beautiful coral. You may even spot a dolphin or two!

If you would like to explore this incredible bay, we offer morning and afternoon snorkel and sail excursions to Kealakekua Bay. These four-hour adventures leaving at 8:30 AM or 1:30 PM are a must-do activity on the Big Island. You will enjoy a relaxing sail to the snorkel spot, quality snorkeling gear, food, and complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, with beer, wine, and spirits available for purchase.

Our knowledgeable and friendly crew will help you get the most out of your snorkeling adventure by pointing out the best snorkeling spots and help keep an eye out for dolphins, turtles, and Manta rays. And when you are done exploring the waters in Kealakekua Bay, you can relax on our spacious catamaran and enjoy the island breeze and beautiful scenery.
